You're gone in a flash, running so fast. You're like a
hurricane ten miles wide. There's a quiver in your
lips. like you're begging for a kiss, I guess your
passions have all run dry. You stare down at your feet,
keep your eyes on every step. You're moving to the beat
of an old song in your head; staring at a girl in the
corner of the room, I remember why I stay alive.
I been on your mind, guess that's good enough. Good
enough of a reason to feel loved.
Something we never talked about and you'd never
explain, is how you got to where you are with someone
else's name; and I ought to hate you by now but I can't
give up on you. October's at the storm door coloring
the lawn, and I'm in a strange house with a girl I
hardly know but she'd have to tear down the sky to be
as cool as you. I don't want to hear you, don't want to
see your face, but if you were here right now I'd ask
you to stay.

t's six in the morning. I'm waiting on a friend,
waiting for that sun to come slipping in. I swear it's
always been lonely wherever I was. But now I got ladies
looking after me; there's a new dress in the kitchen
where yours used to be. I feel like whoever I was, I
ain't that man no more.
