Going To School Lyrics
Carl Mckever Going To School
Chorus:
Going to school, wasn't quite so cool
I had to pray, I had to lean, I had to trust in You!
Going to school, wasn't quite so cool
I had to pray, I had to lean, I had to trust in You!
Leader:
I'm shaking my head, trying to make a good grade
Want a decent, outstanding GPA.
Scholarships and grants for me,
Any help for me,
Lighten my load a bit, loan simplicity!
Chorus:
Going to school, wasn't quite so cool
I had to pray, I had to lean, I had to trust in You!
Going to school, wasn't quite so cool
I had to pray, I had to lean, I had to trust in You!
Leader:
Many nights, you stayed up all night
Trying to get through the chapter, yet you crossing your eyes
From the notes you wrote, it really wasn't no joke
You'll rather work in a classroom than working remote...
Chorus:
Going to school, wasn't quite so cool
I had to pray, I had to lean, I had to trust in You!
Going to school, wasn't quite so cool
I had to pray, I had to lean, I had to trust in You!
Leader:
Financial aid becomes a real pester
Being asked about monies every single semester
Social clubs, fraternities, and sororities
Praising my God, cause He's my first priority!
Chorus:
Going to school, wasn't quite so cool
I had to pray, I had to lean, I had to trust in You!
Going to school, wasn't quite so cool
I had to pray, I had to lean, I had to trust in You!
Leader:
Education's the key to your success
Earning a degree is really a blessing
Shake my head, make a vow, and stand with me...
Bringing positivity to our community!
Chorus:
Going to school, wasn't quite so cool
I had to pray, I had to lean, I had to trust in You!
Going to school, wasn't quite so cool
I had to pray, I had to lean, I had to trust in You!
Leader:
Now, going to school can seem quite so long
Every year you wonder just how much more
Of this can you take, appreciate, show the world that you are truly able
As I sing this song, living on my own
Get your degree and keep moving along!
Chorus:
Going to school, wasn't quite so cool
I had to pray, I had to lean, I had to trust in You!
Going to school, wasn't quite so cool
I had to pray, I had to lean, I had to trust in You!
Refrain:
Pray, lean, and trust! (2x)
Chorus:
Going to school, wasn't quite so cool
I had to pray, I had to lean, I had to trust in You!
