Run the wire from bow to stern
Give the windlass a couple turns
Check the running light tonight, good light above
And tomorrow we shall see
If she is worthy of the sea
And then see if she is worthy of thy love
Lay you down on featherbed
A feather pillow rest your head
I'm coming home from work, I'm by the water
I will meet you between the sheets
With tangled limbs and naked feet
To see if we are worthy of a son or daughter
Will I be a steadfast father
In spite of my inconstant ways
I am jouncing
I am rowing
I don't know how to stay
Do we move and remove to undo some mistake
Or is moving's motive running from a life we're scared to make
And if there's somewhere that we're running to
Will it ever be the place
Where the stream sings
From the light of morning sun
The pain it quickly comes, it carries over
Positive and negative
Reverse it back from steeder to the grover
The trouble is that trouble lends itself
To troubled times till troubled times are gone
