The Fatal Leap
I closed my eyes and told myself
That it was time to go
There’s nothing left for me to do
There’s nothing I don’t know
I took another step towards
The crumbly edge ahead
I looked down and saw the ground
That would be my final bed
Goodbye I said to everyone
Not that they could hear
They wouldn’t listen anyway
I knew they didn’t care
A single tear fell silently
Down my dampened cheek
I braced myself and finally
I took the fatal leap
