I see so many people
As I walk these cities and these towns
Some souls truly shining
Some worn down to the ground
And I see people chasing dreams
Some chasing dollars 'til they drown
Seems the more they have
Then the more they need
And the more they'll fight to hold it down

We're staring at the sun
So I read the papers, watched the tv
For the heroes we all fall about
Most like children on a playground
Only noticed by how loud they scream and shout
But how we love our heroes
Almost as much as we like to tear them down
For they are all that we are not
And we are not to be let down

And do you see the storm that's coming?
Do you think that it's too late?
Are you blinded by your love?
Or by your ignorance and hate?
And do you think you're the only one?
The only one who's ever felt the call of fate?
And felt your life had just begun?
While you were staring at the sun
And as a child, I heard Martin Luther
Call to the people "Now let freedom ring!"
But they shot him down
For the change his love would bring
And so I asked myself, so I asked myself
Who would do these hateful things?
And in the end I found, in the end I found
That they are you and me
And do you see the storm that's coming?
Do you think that it's too late?
Are you blinded by your love?
Or by your ignorance and hate?
And do you think you're the only one?
The only one who's ever thought to hesistate?
And felt your life had come undone?
