Crescent Beach Lyrics

Brent Kirby Crescent Beach

All those little seaside joints
rolling out drinks with the tide
With the sound of people laughing
coming from inside
Getting gritty in the sand
with tequila for a chaser
On the shore watching all those submarine racers
All those local boys
with their big shiny cars
And the strip cuts through the surf like a big ugly
scar
Man, we’re all just looking for some kind of connection
Between night, pretty girls
and some muscle car flexing
Let me kiss you on those sweet sugar lips
Feel the sand on your fingertips
Brush the hair away from your face
And the waves give up their chase
The smell of the ocean just permeates your senses
Stony breakwater puts up its defenses
There’s a fineness in the feeling
that we can almost reach
White Island lighthouse spraying a blinding light
Lone guardian in the night
right here on Crescent Beach
Across that Liberty Bridge down to Ceres Street
Yea you can feel the ground move hard beneath your feet
Speeding through Market Square with white spires of
gold
And all the freaks with their cheeks red
from all the stories that they told
It all makes sense as you hear the waves crash
Of Mother Nature’s crying over rocks collapse
Can’t we for once just find a nice peace of mind?
Or a place in space where my eyes don’t feel so blind
Yea just trust me and take my hand
Gonna make our final stand
Against all the good and the bad
What we wish for and what we had!
The smell of the ocean just permeates your senses
Stony breakwater puts up its defenses
There’s a fineness in the feeling
that we can almost reach
White Island lighthouse spraying a blinding light
Lone guardian in the night
right here on Crescent Beach
From the windows of my dreaming
broken panes obscure my view
See the red horizon gleaming
and it makes me think of you
As we learn the great lost art
of how to compromise
Should have known better
should have seen it coming
Used to watch time crawl by
but now it’s running
This boardwalk is restless with souls to be saved
Hanging onto a memory that’s in their mind engraved
And it all, seems so far away
The neon lights single out all the places
You can see the desperation written on their faces
Weather beaten fence is just a line that divides
We baptize our bodies
just to prove that we’re alive
Do you think you’re alive?
Moment by moment, stone by stone
It’s a special place, we call our own
Fresh new burn, neck and shoulders bare
The wind exploding through your hair
Crescent tide is rising, I’ll meet you there
