I was born here in the midwest

Could never stop the backbeat in my soul

That it was only the fool
Who would waste their life in a backstage dive

I learned to sing off the radio

You play it loud from the heart and soul
Well I really never made much money
But I sure learned a lot about life playing Rock and Roll
'Cause I drove a million miles and copped a lot of styles
Playing one night stands 'til I couldnt get it up anymore
And every day I wonder
What it means to be secure
