Andy Gullahorn Everything's As It Should Be
All the dishes are done and the candles are out
When the kids are in bed, we collapse on the couch
Your head on my shoulder the next half an hour
Everything's as it should be
Most of our cereal bowls have a chip
We're all out of bread so add that to the list
We're late for the bus at the corner again
Everything's as it should be
God only knows why it's something to run away from
Or why I'd sabotage it and fear that it might someday come undone
These rainclouds they won't give an inch to the sun
But at La Hacienda, they have two for one
We'll park in the back where the potholes are ponds
And everything's as it should be
God only knows why it's something to run away from
Or why I'd sabotage it and fear that it might someday come undone
I know there are times when it wasn't this way
Things were as they should and have been I'm afraid
But we're stringing together a line of new days
Where everything's as it should be
Everything's as it should be
Everything's as it should be
