Shed My Skin Lyrics

A Fond Farewell Shed My Skin

Someone told me to go looking at the bottom of a dream.
Well, there are no answers there, just a lot of water.
Nobody sleeps there anymore,
And I can’t find what I’m looking for in all the sand.

And I think it’s time to shed my skin.
I never fit me anyway.
Maybe I’ll go somewhere far away from here,
‘Cause now’s the time to make a change.

Well I told myself things might be better in California,
So I raised my sail and flew there for awhile,
But we’re not pioneers anymore,
And there’s nothing’s different but the names.

And I think it’s time to shed my skin.
I never fit me anyway.
Maybe I’ll go somewhere far away from here,
‘Cause now’s the time to make a change.

And my back is aching from trying to grow wings.
And I’m ready for a mad dash to the horizon,
Where the sun will melt me down and make me new.
So tell everyone I’ll be back soon.

And I think it’s time to shed my skin.
I never fit me anyway.
Maybe I’ll go somewhere far away from here,
‘Cause now’s the time to make a change.
‘Cause now’s the time to make a change.
‘Cause now’s the time to make a change.
‘Cause now’s the time to make a change.
