
Cacophonics is a four piece Latvian punk band formed in November 2002. The band’s genre is melodic pop punk/powerpop influenced by the hardcore, postgrunge wave and bands such as Jimmy Eat World, Alkaline Trio, Green Day, NOFX, mixed together with socially active lyrics. Until now Cacophonics has played more than 200 concerts, and after another year of many live performances in the Baltic States and the first tour to Russia on 1st June 2011 the band has released it`s new EP “Thank You for adding us”. The lineup of Cacophonics consists of Ingus (vocals, guitar, lyrics), Martins (lead guitar, backing vocals), Salvis (bass, backing vocals), Valerijs (drums). Ingus and former members Eric and Imants met in high school and established the band in late 2002. Year later after releasing first two demo Cds in 2003 Cacophonics soon became one of the most demanded bands in the local punk scene. On 2004 Martins joined the band and together Cacophonics recorded their third demo CD, songs of which were included in local punkrock compilations. During this time the band also took part in several contests for new bands often being awarded for the most attractive performance. A half year later after the debut on radio new music broadcast with the single Celebration the band recorded a song We are Born to Make you Happy which reached Nr.2 in the Latvian Mainstream Rock Chart and until now is supposed to be the most well known Cacophonics` song.
